This role requires a professional who can ensure accurate financial records, maintain a robust fixed assets register, and support financial close processes while utilizing NetSuite to optimize accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fixed asset accounting and GAAP compliance.
Duties General Ledger Management:
Oversee the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate classification and recording of transactions. Prepare and post journal entries, including those related to fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and prepaids.
Fixed Assets Accounting:
Maintain and update the fixed assets register, ensuring all asset additions, disposals, and transfers are accurately recorded. Calculate and record monthly depreciation and amortization schedules in compliance with company policies and GAAP. Perform periodic reviews and reconciliations of fixed asset accounts to ensure alignment with physical assets. Collaborate with operations and other departments to track and verify asset purchases and dispositions. Assist with asset tagging, physical inventory counts, and impairment testing
Reconciliation & Reporting:
Reconcile general ledger accounts, including fixed assets, bank accounts, and intercompany accounts. Prepare financial statements and reports with a specific focus on fixed asset activity and balances. Conduct variance analysis on fixed asset movements and other balance sheet accounts.
Month-End & Year-End Close:
Lead fixed asset-related processes during month-end and year-end close, ensuring timely completion of journal entries and reconciliations. Assist in preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries related to fixed assets.
NetSuite Expertise:
Leverage NetSuite to manage and automate fixed asset tracking and reporting processes. Identify and implement system enhancements for improved efficiency and accuracy in fixed asset management. Train team members on NetSuite fixed asset modules and ensure best practices.
Compliance & Audit:
Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards related to fixed assets. Support internal and external audits by providing fixed asset documentation and explanations.
Process Improvement:
Propose and implement process improvements in fixed asset management, including developing standard operating procedures (SOPs). Explore automation opportunities to streamline fixed asset tracking and reporting.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
3-5 years of accounting experience, including significant exposure to fixed assets accounting. Hands-on experience with NetSuite , specifically in the fixed asset module, is required.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs). Familiarity with other fixed asset management tools is a plus.
Knowledge:
Solid understanding of GAAP, particularly fixed asset accounting principles and depreciation methods. Familiarity with month-end and year-end close process.
