About the
Role:
The Accountant II, also known as Staff Accountant or Cost Accountant, is responsible for supporting financial operations through cost accounting, financial reporting, and data analysis within a manufacturing or corporate environment. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and delivering actionable financial insights to support business decision making. The Accountant II plays a key role in month-end close, reporting, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
Responsibilities:
Perform general ledger accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis to support business operations Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports Manage accounts payable processes, invoicing, and data entry with a high level of accuracy Analyze cost variances, track expenses, and develop reporting to support budgeting and forecasting Utilize ERP systems and accounting software to maintain financial data integrity and reporting accuracy Develop and maintain financial dashboards and data visualization reports using tools such as Power BI Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support operational decision making Assist in maintaining compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounting workflows and financial reporting
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, including cost accounting and financial reporting Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles Experience with ERP systems and accounting software in a business or manufacturing environment Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting platforms such as Power BI Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in manufacturing accounting or cost accounting in a production environment Familiarity with financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting processes Knowledge of data visualization, business intelligence tools, and KPI reporting Experience improving accounting systems, workflows, and automation processes Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus Experience supporting audits and internal controls compliance initiatives
