Working directly alongside our CFO/Controller, you'll gain hands-on exposure to every aspect of the company's accounting operations while preparing to eventually lead the accounting function. What You'll Do As our Senior Accountant, you'll be responsible for supporting the financial operations of a busy commercial general contractor while partnering closely with leadership to ensure accurate reporting and efficient processes.

Responsibilities include:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and month-end close.

Process union payroll and labor compliance reporting using HH2 or similar construction payroll software.

Prepare AIA billings and support all aspects of job cost accounting.

Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and provide accurate project financial reporting.

Prepare quarterly tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues proactively.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end financial statement preparation.

Partner closely with the CFO/Controller to ensure a smooth transition of accounting responsibilities over time. What You'll Bring We're looking for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems, and working in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong background in construction accounting.
  • Experience with union payroll, AIA billing, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting.
  • Experience with SAGE 300 and HH2 or similar construction accounting software preferred.
  • Knowledge of tax reporting, payroll compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and project teams.
  • Positive, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow. Preferred Experience Previous experience with a small or mid-sized commercial general contractor.
  • Multi-state payroll experience.
