Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote) Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the reconciliation and closeout of transportation projects to ensure timely release of funds and compliance with federal and state accounting regulations. Job Summary This position is responsible for reconciling and closing ADOT projects, analyzing project costs, validating financial data, and ensuring compliance with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The role involves collaboration with federal agencies, local governments, and multiple ADOT departments to resolve project issues and improve financial processes. Key Responsibilities Reconcile and close transportation projects to ensure timely release of funds Analyze and validate project costs and funding allocations Ensure compliance with GAAP and FHWA rules and regulations Research financial and technical issues and recommend solutions Process accounting adjustments and corrections Prepare final voucher forms for submission Interpret contracts and financial documentation Communicate with federal agencies, local governments, and internal departments Identify and recommend process improvements Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience researching and resolving financial and technical issues Ability to analyze and interpret contract and financial data Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong written and verbal communication skills Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
