JOB SUMMARY
Zion Baptist Church - Marietta, is seeking a Part-Time Accountant Assistant to support the financial operations of the church. This position works under the direct supervision of the Staff Accountant. The position is responsible for accounting, payroll, contributions, payables/receivables, and monthly financial reporting. •Only candidates with formal accounting education and experience will be considered. This is not a clerical or bookkeeping role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process payroll, maintain payroll records, and ensure compliance. Manage accounts payable, including vendor payments, reimbursements, and year-end 1099 preparation. Record contributions and pledges, prepare giving statements, and manage donor records. Generate invoices, monitor receivables, and reconcile accounts. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements. Support budget preparation, year-end close, and external audits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum of 4 years' professional accounting experience (nonprofit or church preferred). Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles. Proficiency with accounting software (Realm or similar) and Excel. High attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet deadlines. Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Only qualified accountants will be considered for this role.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Part-time, 16-24 hours per week. In-office presence required for the first 60 - 90 days. Flexible hybrid scheduling after probation period. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
