Are you proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and comfortable using Excel regularly to reconcile and analyze financial data? About the Opportunity Our client, a large public-sector organization in Marietta, Georgia , is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a hands-on senior accounting position responsible for complex general ledger activity, reconciliations, financial reporting, state and federal funding, accounts receivable, capital assets, and year-end close. The right person will be comfortable digging into financial data, identifying discrepancies, determining the cause, and resolving issues independently. You should be equally comfortable working inside an ERP system and spending a significant part of your day analyzing and reconciling data in Excel. What You'll Be Doing Perform and review complex general ledger reconciliations Prepare, review, and post journal entries Maintain and reconcile bank accounts Support federal and state accounts receivable Perform capital asset accounting Review general ledger balances for accuracy Research, identify, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies Use reports, queries, Excel, and system data to reconcile financial activity Assist with month-end and year-end closing at the state and federal level Serve as a key contributor to State and Federal year-end close Prepare internal and external financial reports Prepare statutory and regulatory reports as required Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Work with accounting activity involving state and federal funding sources Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures Provide accounting expertise and support to other departments Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting At least 3 years of professional accounting experience Hands-on general ledger accounting experience Strong account reconciliation experience Experience preparing and posting journal entries Experience with month-end and/or year-end close Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: PivotTables
