The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax preparation, accounting, financial reporting, business advisory services, and oil and gas accounting , with experience handling complex individual, business, estate, and trust tax matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting and tax engagements from inception through completion, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and reviewing tax returns, analyzing financial information, and providing knowledgeable guidance to clients and management. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and analyze complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates, and trusts. Prepare and review Form 1041 - U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts , including fiduciary accounting and related tax reporting. Prepare and review individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, and other business tax returns. Perform tax planning and provide strategic recommendations to minimize tax liabilities while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Provide accounting and financial reporting services, including general ledger review, account reconciliation, adjusting journal entries, and financial statement preparation. Analyze financial statements and accounting records to identify discrepancies, trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain and review books and records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. Provide accounting and tax support for clients in the oil and gas industry , including experience with industry-specific accounting, revenue, expenses, investments, and related tax considerations. Work with oil and gas entities, investors, partnerships, and other business structures as applicable. Assist with tax research and interpretation of federal, state, and local tax regulations. Research complex tax issues and document conclusions and recommendations. Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices, audits, correspondence, and tax resolution matters. Review work prepared by accounting staff and provide guidance, corrections, and technical oversight. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and serve as a trusted financial and tax advisor. Ensure all work is completed accurately, efficiently, confidentially, and within established deadlines. Stay current with changes in tax laws, accounting standards, IRS regulations, and industry-specific requirements. Collaborate with clients, management, attorneys, financial professionals, and other advisors when necessary. Required Qualifications Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in good standing. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred. 5+ years of progressive public accounting or related professional accounting experience. Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns. Demonstrated experience with Form 1041 and estate/trust taxation . Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation. Experience with partnerships, S-Corporations, C-Corporations, and other business entities. Demonstrated oil and gas accounting and/or tax experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to independently manage multiple client engagements and competing deadlines. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Strong proficiency with accounting and tax software and Microsoft Office applications.
