About Us We operate a diversified group of businesses anchored by 10+ Wendy's restaurants across South Texas, along with real estate, self-storage, construction, and service operations in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. We're building our accounting function in-house, and this role is a ground-floor opportunity to grow with it. The Opportunity We're hiring a Controller Trainee — a recent accounting graduate (or early-career accountant) who wants a real path to a controllership, not just a seat in a back office. You'll work directly with ownership and our accounting team, learning multi-entity accounting from the inside: restaurants, real estate, and everything in between. No prior work experience is required. We're hiring for aptitude, curiosity, and drive — we'll teach you the rest. What You'll Do Assist with monthly closes across multiple entities (calendar-month basis) Work in QuickBooks Online and Rosnet (restaurant back-office system) — training provided Help map and organize financial data across entities, systems, and reports Support bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting Participate in process improvement as we modernize tooling and workflows Grow toward increasing responsibility, with a defined path to a controller role
What We're Looking For Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or completing one soon) Familiarity with databases and data mapping — you understand how data connects across tables, systems, or reports (coursework or self-taught is fine) Strong Excel skills Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable asking questions Willingness to learn multiple systems and business types Nice to Have (Not Required): Any exposure to QuickBooks, Rosnet, or other accounting software Restaurant, retail, or multi-unit business exposure Why This Role Real growth path: We need a controller — this role is designed to build one
