Overview (Scope of Role)The Cost Accountant is responsible for partnering with key operational & finance personnel, analyzing manufacturing cost information, executing cost accounting month end close activities, and preparing management reports for an entire business or manufacturing area within a business.
This is a hybrid position based in Midland, MI. Responsibilities Execute critical month-end close assignments, such as recording timely cost accounting transactions (journal entries); preparing supporting schedules and account reconciliations; and ensuring reserves adequately reflected in the periodPrepare management reports focused on production, inventory, variance analyses, and plant operationsPartner with the FPnA team as well as other accounting functional areas.
Prepare accurate and timely Intercompany and third-party billings for certain site services performedManage and monitor cost data, including master data, for accuracy and proper linkage to management reporting, legal entity analysis and corporate reporting requirementsEnsure accurate financial reporting (both balance sheet and income statement) that complies with Corporate Accounting PoliciesProvide local input requirements into global work process designs and ensure work processes are documented and kept up to datePerform SOX-related requirements timely. Confirm other functions, like Supply Chain, Purchasing, Payables and Manufacturing, have completed their applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Support plant or business-related audits and local statutory mattersLimited travel in the fourth quarter to participate in physical inventory activities.

Qualifications Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance/Accounting (or local equivalent)4+ years of relevant experience in a multinational manufacturing company, preferredPrevious accounting and/or operational finance experience in industrial chemicals and publicly traded companies preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience with SAP environments, S/4 HANA and ECC6Excellent interpersonal skills to engage various levels of managementStrong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrate leadership skills capable of inspiring and influencing othersStrong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and ExcelAbility to learn new systems quickly, a plusEquity and InclusionWith our expanding global presence, cross-cultural insight and competence are essential for our ongoing success.
