Send job Job Details SetPoint Medical's Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing financial reporting to support operational and strategic decision-making. This role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost controls as the company scales toward commercialization and IPO readiness. Key responsibilities include analyzing manufacturing variances, supporting monthly close activities, maintaining inventory accounting processes, and partnering cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, quality, and finance teams. In a fast-paced medical device environment, this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative setting and contribute to strengthening financial processes and internal controls in support of a growing public-company environment. Requirements
  • Implement and maintain standard costs for medical device products, materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Prepare and review monthly inventory reconciliations and inventory reserve analyses.
  • Analyze manufacturing and purchase price variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
  • Partner with supply chain, operations, and manufacturing teams to improve costing accuracy, and operational budgeting and efficiency.
  • Assist in physical inventory counts, cycle and annual count programs, and inventory control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with
GAAP, SOX
readiness initiatives, and company accounting policies.
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to support company growth and IPO readiness.
  • Prepare financial analyses and reports for management related to inventory, margins, and manufacturing performance.
  • Assist with ERP system enhancements and implementation of cost accounting best practices.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing operations.
  • Expertise in cost analysis, inventory valuation, and variance reporting.
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
  • Medical device, biotech, or regulated manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong background in GAAP accounting and internal controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge required.
  • Experience supporting IPO readiness, SOX compliance, or public company reporting highly preferred. Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and present meaningful financial insights.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and finance teams, and demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform routine physical tasks, including lifting to 20 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a sitting position and performing repetitive tasks. Work Location and Travel
  • This is a hybrid position requiring regular in-office presence at company headquarters in Valencia, CA, with approved remote workdays permitted in accordance with company policy.
  • Minimal travel; opportunities may be available based on interest and business need.
