Summary of Position:
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records, with a primary focus on cash posting and fixed asset accounting. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of transactions, supports the month-end close process, and maintains compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Key Responsibilities /
Essential Functions:
Cash Posting & Reconciliation:
  • Process and post daily cash receipts, ensuring accurate application to customer accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and cash-related general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to cash transactions.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable to ensure proper allocation and tracking of incoming payments. Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and retirements.
  • Calculate and record monthly depreciation and amortization expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and accounting standards.
  • Perform periodic physical asset verifications and reconcile to the general ledger. General Ledger & Close Activities
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to cash, fixed assets, prepaids, and other assigned accounts.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Support financial reporting and variance analysis. Compliance & Controls
  • Maintain adherence to GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Ensure strong internal controls over cash handling and asset management.
Other Responsibilities may include:
  • Compile and complete annual property tax and census reports.
  • Assist in cost accounting and physical inventory responsibilities.
  • Maintains clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Maintains a commitment to teamwork and a positive, supportive attitude to all personnel.
  • Supports the company's continuous improvement activities (Veralto Enterprise System/VES).
  • Observes and complies with all safety regulations and company policies.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting strongly preferred
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in general ledger accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience using a tier-1 ERP system such as Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable.
  • Ability to work effectively with associates, managers and outside service providers.
  • Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Office Suite required.
Knowledge in use of personal computers, and common business productivity tools such as word processors, spreadsheets, databases, etc.
Work Environment:
  • Office environment with occasional need to meet with associates in manufacturing space.
  • Hybrid schedule with Monday - Wednesday in office and Thursday and Friday remote.
