Job Title Junior Staff Accountant (Contract - Hybrid) Location Hybrid (Sacramento, CA area) Job Type Contract (6 months), Full-Time Compensation $25-28/hour (W2) About the Role A well-established financial services organization is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to support its Accounting team. This role is ideal for someone with strong foundational accounting experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Key Responsibilities Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts Prepare and post journal entries Support month-end close processes and financial reporting Research and resolve discrepancies and variances Maintain sub-ledgers and ensure data accuracy Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements Support audit activities through preparation of workpapers Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1-3+ years of accounting experience Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations Strong understanding of general ledger and financial statements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, functions) Preferred Qualifications Experience in banking, credit union, or financial services Familiarity with GAAP and accrual accounting Exposure to accounts payable, fixed assets, or financial reporting Experience with accounting systems or reconciliation tools Work Environment Hybrid schedule (combination of onsite and remote work) Standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
