Job Description
Property Accountant $75,000 – $95,000 Our client, a rapidly expanding real estate company, has experienced significant growth in recent years and continues to scale its operations. As part of this expansion, they are seeking to add a Property Accountant to their team. One of the largest commercial real estate firms in the Chicagoland area Strong commitment to internal promotion and long-term employee development Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and flexible spending accounts Excellent work-life balance Positive, casual, and collaborative company culture Hybrid schedule Key Responsibilities Prepare and post monthly journal entries Reconcile bank accounts, including escrows and reserve accounts Maintain detailed supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, mortgages, interest payable, real estate taxes, and tenant-related receivables/payables Reconcile and track capital activity Prepare journal entries for complex transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and financing activities Maintain the fixed asset ledger and record depreciation entries Analyze lease commissions, tenant allowances, and capital expenditures for proper accounting treatment Partner with Property Management to prepare monthly variance analyses of operating revenues and expenses Work with senior accounting staff to support consolidated financial reporting for the multifamily portfolio Process owner distributions and lender draw requests Assist with tax return preparation and provide supporting documentation Support external audit requests and year-end tax filings Assist in the preparation and review of annual property budgets Participate in special projects and prepare ad hoc financial reports as needed Assist with tenant reconciliations and estimates in accordance with lease agreements Qualifications 2+ year of accounting experience Prior experience in real estate accounting strongly preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required EB-2073963830
