Job Description

Real Estate Accountant Location:
Boardman, OH (In-Office, Monday - Friday)

Job Summary As a Real Estate Accountant, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting across our corporate real estate and property portfolio. This role handles property-level income statements, multi-entity close cycles, tenant financial tracking, and variance analysis to support high-level executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Property Financial Reporting:
Perform month-end close workflows, reconcile property-level financial statements, and investigate key budget-to-actual variances.
General Ledger & Reconciliation:
Prepare monthly bank, balance sheet, and complex intercompany account reconciliations across multiple legal entities.
Lease & Asset Management:
Track fixed assets and depreciation, manage accounting for acquisitions/dispositions, and oversee tenant improvement allowances.
AR & AP Operations:
Review tenant billings, process incoming property vendor invoices, track rent collections, and audit aging reports.
Budgeting & Compliance:
Assist in building annual property operating budgets, prepare data packages for annual financial audits, and support property tax reporting.
Process Optimization:
Identify ways to streamline internal control workflows and maximize the efficiency of our core property management and accounting software platforms.
Requirements & Qualifications Required:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
Core Skills:
Solid comprehension of GAAP, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
Attributes:
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple legal entities, properties, and shifting deadlines simultaneously.
Work Arrangement:
Full-time, structured in-office attendance (this role is not eligible for remote or hybrid schedules).
Preferred:
3+ years of experience within commercial real estate, property management, or construction accounting. Hands-on experience using specialized real estate/property management accounting software. Experience navigating multi-entity internal environments and intercompany transactions. Progress toward a CPA, CMA, or related professional financial designation.
