Job Description
Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team! As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the financial health, reporting, and strategic decision-making of the organization. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position provides high-level support across financial reporting, planning, analysis, compliance, and general accounting functions. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and strategic, with the ability to improve processes, support business initiatives, and partner effectively across departments.
This position is hybrid, with flexibility for remote consideration for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Lead monthly financial close and revenue recognition review processes in accordance with GAAP
Support optimization of the company's financial performance and strategic position through P&L analysis, KPI reporting, and financial insights for leadership
Prepare, analyze, and automate complex financial reports in Excel and/or Power BI, including: General ledger account reconciliations
Financial analyses and trending
Variance investigation and resolution between subledgers and the GL Support strategic initiatives and systems enhancements, including: ERP optimization and integrations
Automation and AI-enabled process improvements
Identification of cost reduction and operational improvement opportunities Ensure appropriate internal controls are maintained in alignment with statutory requirements and financial systems
Review and provide guidance on: AP transactions
Payroll
Bank and general ledger reconciliations
Sales & use tax
1099 reporting Serve as a mentor and technical resource to accounting team members
Assist with development of annual financial plans and monthly forecasts, including working capital projections
Partner with leadership to evaluate the financial implications of business transactions, pricing decisions, and revenue/cost recognition matters
Coordinate periodic financial and ERISA audits and support annual tax return preparation
Support ongoing compliance with internal financial procedures and processes Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related business discipline required
Progressive accounting and/or finance experience, generally within the 3-7 year range, with increasing levels of responsibility
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with: Financial planning and forecasting
Month-end and year-end close
Revenue recognition
Budget and working capital management
Cost allocation Demonstrated analytical and metric-driven financial planning skills with experience developing meaningful KPIs
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; Power BI experience a plus
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or Unanet preferred
Interest in or experience leveraging automation and AI tools to improve accounting workflows
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance detail-oriented work and strategic thinking
Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
High level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality
Ability to collaborate effectively across operations and finance teams Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work extended hours during peak business cycles and month/year-end close periods
Occasional travel may be required (up to 10%) to support business operations and collaboration initiatives Why Join Us?

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary/hourly range for this position is $75,000-$95,000per year.
