Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant A well-established, mission-driven organization is seeking a Senior Grants Accountant to join its growing finance team in Baltimore MD on a hybrid basis. This high visibility role supporting grant-funded programs with meaningful community impact. The opportunity to work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, strong mix of technical accounting, and strategic grant involvement. Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries related to grants and general accounting activities
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
• Manage grant accounting operations, including tracking expenditures, budgets, and compliance requirements
• Prepare and submit grant reimbursement billings and monitor related receivables
• Compile and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant requirements
• Support budget development for grant applications and ongoing reporting
• Prepare audit schedules and act as a key liaison for external auditors and grantors
• Provide financial analysis, identify variances, and offer recommendations to improve performance
• Assist in developing and enhancing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with federal or state grant programs
• Experience supporting external audits and compliance reporting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor?s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong focus on grant accounting
• Experience working in a nonprofit, or grant-funded environment
• Solid understanding of GAAP and fund/grant accounting principles Experience preparing financial reports for government or private grants
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
