Audit & Tax Location:
Needham MA with Up to 2 Days Remote per Week if so desired About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a background in Homeowners Association (HOA) / Community Association accounting to join our growing CPA firm. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional to work directly with condominium and homeowners association clients, performing financial statement reviews, audits, and tax return preparation. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of accounting experience serving community association clients and possess strong accounting, auditing, and client service skills. Candidates pursuing CPA licensure are preferred but not required. Responsibilities Perform financial statement reviews and audits for homeowners associations. Prepare and review annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards such as GAAP and GAAS. Prepare federal and state tax returns for associations, including Form 1120-H and Form 1120. Assist with audit planning, risk assessment, testing procedures, and engagement completion. Analyze financial records and identify accounting, reporting, and internal control issues. Communicate directly with property managers, property accountants and client representatives. Prepare audit, review, and tax workpapers and supporting documentation. Assist with client inquiries and provide timely, professional service. Support partners and managers in managing multiple engagements and deadlines. Stay current on accounting, auditing, and tax developments affecting community associations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred. 3-7 years of accounting experience. Experience working with homeowners associations (HOAs) is a plus. Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audit/review engagements. Experience preparing HOA tax returns, including Forms 1120-H and 1120. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Preferred Active CPA license or actively pursuing CPA certification (CPA track preferred). Experience with community association accounting software and property management systems. Prior experience in a CPA firm environment.
