Job Title:
Senior Accountant Job Description This role will provide critical support during the upcoming fiscal year-end audit, with a primary focus on revenue recognition (ASC 606) and audit readiness. The individual will serve as a subject matter resource on revenue recognition, helping validate transactions, support audit requests, and ensure appropriate accounting treatment across a high-volume, transaction-based business. This is a project-based assignment (through August/September) aligned to audit completion, with potential for extension based on business needs. Responsibilities Review revenue transactions as of fiscal year-end to determine proper recognition based on contract terms. Evaluate contracts and shipping terms to assess revenue recognition triggers. Validate supporting documentation required for revenue recognition. Analyze open receivables and determine whether revenue should be recognized or reversed. Ensure alignment between documentation, contractual terms, and accounting treatment. Work within structured Excel templates to track and document revenue recognition decisions. Prepare and compile documentation to support external audit requests. Partner with accounting leadership to review transactions and ensure debits/credits are appropriate. Walk through revenue recognition positions and supporting evidence with internal leadership in preparation for auditor review. Assist with responding to audit inquiries, particularly related to revenue recognition and receivables. Perform intercompany reconciliations and transaction matching. Investigate aged balances and discrepancies in AR/AP. Support cleanup of legacy balances and audit-flagged items. Assist in organizing documentation and improving audit readiness across accounts. Support month-end close, primarily during the May/June ramp-up period. Collaborate on ad hoc analysis and cleanup initiatives. Assist with improving documentation and supporting audit recommendations/process improvements. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4-8+ years of accounting experience at a Senior Accountant level. Strong understanding of ASC 606 / revenue recognition principles. Experience working in audit environments or supporting external auditors. Ability to work independently with minimal training in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Exposure to high-volume, transaction-based business models. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables andVLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
Experience working with large datasets and structured templates. Ability to validate and reconcile data across multiple sources. Work Environment The work environment requires onsite presence for four days per week during onboarding and training (May-June) with a potential pivot to three days in July through the end of the assignment. There is an expectation for longer hours during the peak audit period. This role offers visibility and direct exposure to leadership. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Jersey City, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
