Tuesdays & Thursdays Onsite Salary:
$80,000–$90,000 Overview Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its accounting team and take ownership of high-volume account reconciliations, month-end close support, and detailed account analysis. This is a hands-on Senior Accountant opportunity for someone who is comfortable working in a highly transactional, currently manual accounting environment. With approximately $10 million in monthly revenue made up of thousands of smaller transactions, this role requires someone who genuinely enjoys digging into the details, researching discrepancies, and ensuring accounts tie out accurately. The ideal candidate is an independent, detail-oriented accountant with strong Excel skills who can roll up their sleeves, work through complex reconciliations, and confidently raise questions when something doesn't look right. This person will have the opportunity to train alongside an existing Senior Accountant before that team member begins an extended leave later this year. Why You'll Love This Senior Accountant Opportunity Hybrid schedule with only Tuesdays and Thursdays onsite Join a mission-driven nonprofit making a meaningful impact in the community Step into a highly visible role with ownership over critical accounting processes Train directly with an experienced team member before taking on additional responsibilities Work with complex, high-volume accounting data that will keep you challenged Gain exposure to process improvement and future accounting automation initiatives Join a team that values flexibility, communication, patience, and collaboration What You'll Do as the Senior Accountant As the Senior Accountant, you will: Perform high-volume bank, balance sheet, accounts receivable, and other general ledger reconciliations Reconcile accounts containing thousands of individual transactions and records Work extensively in Excel to complete detailed account reconciliations and analysis Support month-end close and ensure assigned accounts are reconciled accurately and on time Research discrepancies, identify root causes, and communicate findings to accounting leadership Perform variance analysis and investigate unusual account activity Review and analyze employee and personal expense activity in detail Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation as needed Complete select accounts payable reconciliations Assist with vendor account cleanup and other AP-related projects Help identify opportunities to improve manual processes as the organization evaluates future AP automation Communicate discrepancies proactively rather than simply clearing or carrying forward unexplained balances Provide additional accounting support and cross-functional assistance as priorities evolve What We're Looking For The successful Senior Accountant will bring strong reconciliation experience and the ability to independently navigate large volumes of accounting data. Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and account reconciliations Experience working in a high-volume transactional accounting environment Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies Experience with bank, balance sheet, AR, and/or AP reconciliations Ability to work independently and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Associate's degree in Accounting preferred NetSuite experience is a plus, but not required Patient, flexible, and open-minded approach to working in a manual and evolving environment Clear communication skills and a willingness to roll up your sleeves wherever needed The Ideal Senior Accountant This position is especially well suited for someone who enjoys the investigative side of accounting.
