An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
Senior Accountant | CPA Firm Edmond, OK $75,000 to $95,000 A broader role, closer client relationships, and a clearer sense of progress There is a frustration that can build quietly in public accounting. You are capable. You are dependable. The work gets done properly. But each year starts to look a lot like the last. The assignments stay familiar. Client relationships feel transactional. Your workload increases, but your experience does not seem to broaden at the same pace. Nothing is necessarily wrong. It just feels like your next role should offer more. This independent CPA firm in Edmond could be that next step. The firm has a team of around 15 people. It is established enough to offer structure, support, and experienced people to learn from, while remaining small enough for your work to be visible. You will not be buried in a large system or kept several layers away from clients and decision makers. Instead, you will work closely with clients, Partners, and experienced colleagues across accounting, financial reporting, and tax. For someone who wants to build a well rounded career rather than become increasingly specialized, that breadth can make a meaningful difference. Why this role is worth considering You will join a stable, connected team where your contribution will be noticed. You will gain experience across accounting, financial reporting, and tax rather than being limited to one area. You will build direct relationships with clients who know who you are and value your support. You will have regular access to Partners and senior professionals without unnecessary management layers. You will work with both individuals and businesses, giving you a broader understanding of each client's overall position. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to build toward something more meaningful than simply carrying a larger workload each year. What you will be doing You will work across a varied client base, supporting accounting, financial reporting, and tax assignments.
Your work will include:
Preparing financial statements and supporting ongoing reporting requirements Assisting with year end accounting and the information required for tax compliance Preparing or supporting 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S returns Working directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and keep assignments moving Maintaining strong standards across accuracy, communication, and client service Taking on more complex work as your experience and confidence grow Building trusted client relationships over time What the firm is looking for You will need public accounting experience covering accounting and tax compliance, along with some exposure to both individual and business tax work. You should be comfortable communicating directly with clients and confident taking responsibility for keeping work on track. The role is likely to suit someone who is detail focused, practical, and comfortable working as part of a smaller, connected team. An EA, CPA, or progress toward the CPA would be helpful, but it is not essential. The most important thing is that you want broader experience, greater visibility, and the opportunity to continue developing. Who this role could suit You may be working in a larger firm where your role has become too narrow. You may be in a smaller practice where the support, exposure, or sense of progression is not as clear as you would like. Or you may simply be ready for a role where your effort leads to broader experience, stronger client relationships, and more trust. This is an opportunity to keep developing without becoming another name in the workflow. Why summer is a smart time to move Joining during the summer gives you time to settle in properly. You can learn the client base, understand how the firm operates, and build relationships before the fall deadlines arrive. Rather than joining at the busiest point of the year and trying to catch up under pressure, you can start from a position of confidence. That can shape how successful the move feels long after the first few months. Interested? You do not need an updated resume to start a conversation. Call me directly on 972 807 7244 .
