full-time Job description Senior Accountant / Finance Operations Remote | DMV Area Preferred $70,000-$90,000 + Bonus A growing nonprofit organization is seeking a Senior Accountant / Finance Operations professional to support day-to-day accounting while helping strengthen financial processes, systems, reporting, and operational workflows. Key Responsibilities Manage monthly GL account reconciliations, including bank, prepaid, deferred revenue, investments, AP/accruals, payroll, and other accounts. Support month-end close and financial reporting. Prepare schedules and documentation for audits, tax filings, Form 990, and other compliance requirements. Record and review payroll-related journal entries and revenue accruals. Review accounting transactions and journal entries. Help improve accounting policies, procedures, reporting, and workflows. Support ERP implementation, process automation, budgeting, forecasting, and systems migration projects. Partner with HR, operations, and program teams to resolve financial and operational issues. Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong month-end close, reconciliation, and general ledger experience Experience supporting audits and compliance activities Payroll accounting/support experience Strong Excel skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently in a small or lean organization Strong communication and problem-solving skills Comfortable with changing priorities and process improvement
Preferred:
Nonprofit accounting, Sage Intacct or ERP implementation experience, Form 990 exposure, multi-state payroll, automation/systems experience, and experience with Shopify, Point, or similar platforms.
