Job Description
Audit Senior | $80k - $90k | Houston | Mostly In-office (ad hoc WFH) 3 Years Public Accounting Experience Required 45-hour busy seasons. No, that's not a typo. In a market where "work-life balance" gets thrown around a lot, this firm actually sticks to it. Most weeks land around 40 to 45 hours, and even in busy season you're looking at 45 hours, with maybe one week closer to 50. It's the kind of place where people don't feel the need to leave, and if they do, they often come back. You spend a big part of your life at work, so the environment really matters. Here, the team is genuinely close-knit, the partners are approachable, and there's a real respect for life outside the office. Family events, school runs, important moments, they're not things you have to justify. The partner group takes an open-door approach and stays closely involved in the day-to-day. You won't be stuck in the background, you'll get exposure, support, and the chance to grow at your own pace. In this role, you'll be working on end-to-end audit engagements, building relationships with clients, and supporting junior staff as they develop. There's a strong focus on governmental and nonprofit work, so if that's an area you enjoy (or want to build experience in), you'll get solid exposure here. Career progression is there if you want it, all the way up to Partner. But equally, if you're looking for stability and a long-term home without constant pressure to climb, that's completely fine too. The firm supports both paths; it's your call. To be the perfect fit, you'll likely have 2-3 years in public accounting, ideally some nonprofit experience, and be working toward your CPA (or planning to). Most importantly, you'll want to be part of a team that values people just as much as performance. Resume not ready? Not sure if now's the right time? That's completely normal, this time of year often makes people pause and think about what they actually want next. Call Laura on 512-647-2214. She'll give you a clear picture of what the role really looks like day to day, how the firm operates, and whether it lines up with what you want long term. No pressure. Just useful insight.
