Senior Sales And Use Tax Accountant

Description Review and analyze high-volume monthly invoices (100+)/financial data to determine appropriate sales & use tax treatment Identify and accrue use tax on untaxed purchases Conduct technical tax research and document conclusions through memos and supporting analysis Perform detailed tax validation and compliance reviews Run monthly reports to identify untaxed purchases and ensure accurate remittance to the State of Florida Partner closely with Accounts Payable to: Review and validate invoice data flowing into tax reporting, Improve upstream processes and overall accuracy, & Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities Assist with sales & use tax audits Assist in sales & use tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with state and local requirements Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities in a changing, evolving environment Support internal controls and documentation related to tax processes Additional Details Heavy focus on manual processes transitioning to automation Significant exposure to new processes and evolving workflows Ideal candidate has significant expertise sales & use tax who can help build and refine processes (process improvement) Additional Skills & Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required) 5+ years of Sales & Use Tax experience in a high-volume environment Strong experience with: Tax research and technical memo writing Invoice-level tax determination and accruals Compliance and audit support Experience working with ERP systems (Infor experience a plus) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with tax engines such as: Vertex (preferred) Avalara, OneSource, or similar tools acceptable Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and process-driven Comfortable working in a repetitive, structured environment Ability to operate independently and manage large data volumes Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Boca Raton, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
