Residential Low-Voltage Installation Technician About the Job Welcome to the world of smart-home and building technology solutions! Our rapidly growing high-technology company is in need of a resourceful Residential Low Voltage Installation Technician to install systems in high-end homes and commercial projects in the area. The right candidate is customer-focused, empathetic and ready to help build low-voltage projects in our target market. They will need strong communication skills, the ability to work with a diverse team and the skills to install sophisticated systems on a construction site. Attention to detail, the desire to be a team player, and a willingness to work on job sites are key. Description The role of a low-voltage Installation Technician is to complete the production and tasks on the job site per the Project Manager's Direction. Your role will include completing a daily required system breakdown of the work completed. These steps will better prepare and plan success for the project. You will also be interacting with other trades on the job site, some of which include Electrical, HVAC, Pool/Spa, Lighting, Landscaping, and General Contractors. The Installation Technician may also interface with the Client or Client's representatives to ensure the project is meeting their expectations. From the smallest client requests to the most complex system setup, we seek perfection. Responsibilities Low-voltage system installation knowledge including smart home systems, surveillance cameras, access control, WiFi and data networks, lighting control, motorized windows and doors, thermostats, pool controls, audio-visual and control systems Knowledge of the theories and techniques involved in the implementation and maintenance of low-voltage systems Ability to read and execute instructions from a wide variety of installer notes, company tasks, packing slips and company on-site meetings The ability to use and operate a personal computer, basic cable tester, and other tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and operation of low-voltage systems Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills The ability to interact with all levels of management and co-workers Familiarity with common wiring types including twisted pair, fiber, and AV installation methods and color-coding conventions Enters and retrieves data from semi-finished source documents on a laptop, requiring interpretation of the source documents and a basic understanding of software parameters The ability to demonstrate initiative and work and solve technical problems independently and as part of a team The ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritizing and accurately completing them on time in a potentially stressful environment is required The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required Must be willing and able to travel locally on a daily basis Self-motivated and comfortable working independently A commitment to excellent customer service The position requires climbing ladders, lifting materials, working in ceilings, attics, basements, etc. and regular use of small hand tools and test equipment. Must be able to work in noisy rooms, hot, moist, and dirty environments that can be cold, windy, and undesirable for long-term exposure. The position requires work in various locations, such as construction areas, and in close quarters. Regular sustained mental concentration and some physical effort is required. A high degree of fine finger and hand dexterity is required. Experience Desired Minimum 2 years in low-voltage electronics field experience Experience with Control systems (Control4, Savant, Crestron, Lutron…) desired Solid PC/MAC computer and associated software knowledge Familiarity with Apple IOS products Construction project knowledge including pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project Proper use of all associated tools and job site safety Able to read and understand device layout drawings, engineered schematics and provide redline corrections for construction blueprints Industry certifications from related vendors and organizations are desired Strong customer service, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with a variety of personalities and cultures are mandatory Benefits Health Plan Incentive Sales Bonus Performance Bonus Paid vacation & sick time 401K About Us Founded in 1995, CMD is a leading design-build firm specializing in low-voltage technology integration for residential and commercial spaces.
