Category Accounting/Finance Position Type Full-Time Workstyle Hybrid About the Role Canon U.S.A. Inc., headquartered in Melville, NY seeks a Senior Tax Accountant (Sr Accountant, Tax). The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare and review sales and use tax returns for multi-states, to comply with state and local regulations. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs. Your Impact- Prepare and review journal entries and perform account reconciliations, identify account variances and determine corrective action
- Review purchase invoices to determine taxability and review use tax accruals for accuracy
- Review customers' sales tax exemption certificate, based on state requirements and perform system updates Vertex and Canon's ERP system (S21).
- Maintain setups in Vertex O series system for sales and purchase transactions
- Prepare support documents for requests from external auditors
- Research tax rules and regulations for various sales and purchase transactions and remain current with tax law changes
- Evaluate policies and procedures and suggest improvements where necessary, and assist with Robotics Process Automation (RPA) projects
- Operate independently with general direction from manager
About You:
The Skills & Expertise You Bring- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, plus 5 years of related experience, CPA helpful
- 5+ years of multi-state sales tax accounting experience
- Requires general accounting work experience and knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency with Vertex Returns, or similar tax management system required
- Oracle and Tableau experience a plus
- Strong Excel skills required
- Ability to work independently and interact well with others We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $76,150
