Job Description

Brad Stewart with Robert Half Finance & Accounting is recruiting for an experienced Senior Accountant to support a mining company in northern Nevada. This is a remote role that will require occasional travel to the mine site. This position plays a central role in delivering accurate month-end reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and partnering with operational and corporate teams to keep accounting activities running smoothly. The ideal candidate brings solid general ledger expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced energy and natural resources environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct the monthly close cycle for the mine location, ensuring financial results are completed accurately and submitted on schedule.
  • Prepare and review journal entries such as accruals, reclasses, and other adjustments needed to maintain an accurate general ledger.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and analytical reviews that support reliable financial statements and readiness for audit requests.
  • Evaluate monthly cost performance by comparing actual results with budgets and forecasts across departments, cost centers, and operating activities.
  • Oversee accounts payable activities, assist with invoice processing when needed, and help manage timely disbursements and weekly cash funding requirements.
  • Calculate royalty-related accounting activity, maintain supporting records, and ensure transactions are recorded properly.
  • Support compliance by maintaining documentation, monitoring site-specific internal controls, and coordinating materials requested for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare tax-related calculations, filings, and supporting schedules for mining and local tax obligations, while responding to corporate and internal inquiries.
  • Track capital project accounting, inventory valuation, warehouse or asset cycle counts, payroll accruals, and other site accounting activities, while contributing to reporting improvements and special projects as needed.
