Sr. Accountant

Our client is seeking an interim Senior Accountant to support a complex and high-volume fixed asset environment within a growing organization. This role will be responsible for managing a large-scale asset portfolio, supporting lease accounting, and driving capitalization and reporting efforts tied to key corporate initiatives.

This is a critical position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and brings a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in areas of fixed assets, capitalization, and lease accounting. This position can be 100% remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Fixed Assets Management (Primary Focus)
• Oversee a high-volume fixed asset environment supporting ~45,000 customer accounts, each with multiple assets
• Maintain and track asset records tied to ongoing customer installations, with approximately 300 new installations per month
• Ensure timely and accurate capitalization of new assets within the accounting system
• Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including setup, tracking, depreciation, and reporting
• Apply sound judgment in determining capitalization vs. expense, particularly across complex project-based asset activity
• Partner cross-functionally to ensure complete and accurate asset data and alignment with operational activity
• Lease & Intangible Asset Accounting
• Support accounting and tracking for ~300 leases, including:
• Operating leases (including depot locations)
• Equipment and truck financing leases
• Maintain lease data within the system and ensure accuracy of inputs and classifications
• Perform monthly lease accounting activities, including tracking and reporting
• Manage intangible assets and perform monthly amortization
• Capital Projects & Financial Reporting
• Support accounting for multiple ongoing corporate initiatives and projects
• Evaluate project costs to determine appropriate capitalization treatment
• Accumulate and track project-related costs, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and company policy
• Provide clear and accurate reporting on:
• Capitalized vs. non-capitalized costs
• Project spend and financial impact
