As we do so, we continue to support the Shelter Project, the company's in-house compassion program that has been providing free cannabis oil to cancer patients since 2014. About the
Role:
The Accounting Assistant supports the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accuracy, organization, and consistency across expense reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role plays a key part in maintaining clean financial records and supporting timely, compliant transactions across the company. This position is well-suited for someone early in their accounting career who is detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to build a strong foundation in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of 3 days/week onsite in the East Bay, with time spent between our manufacturing facility in Oakland, CA and office in Lafayette, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Expense Reporting & Financial Accuracy:
Ensure employee expenses are processed accurately and in line with company policies. Process and reconcile employee expense reports Verify supporting documentation and approvals Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Accounts Payable Support:
Support the flow of outgoing payments across the business. Maintain accurate records for accounts payable Review invoices and purchase orders for accuracy and proper documentation Process payments in alignment with company policies and deadlines Apply incoming payments Follow up on past due balances and resolve discrepancies
Reconciliation & Close Support:
Help maintain clean and reliable financial records. Reconcile AP and AR discrepancies and partner with internal teams or vendors to resolve issues Support month-end and year-end close processes Maintain organized and accurate digital filing systems
General Finance Support:
Contribute to overall team efficiency and operations. Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance team as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience preferred Foundational understanding of accounting principles Proficiency with Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks is a plus Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus What Success Looks Like in 12
Months:
Expense reporting is processed consistently, accurately, and in line with company policy Accounting workflows run smoothly with minimal errors or delays Discrepancies are identified and resolved quickly with clear communication Financial records are well-organized, accurate, and audit-ready Strong support provided to month-end close processes Trusted partner to the Finance team for day-to-day accounting operations
