STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Location:
Albuquerque, NM | Full-time | $60,000-$65,000/year

Burgmaier & Associates, Inc. is a well-established CPA firm dedicated to providing comprehensive accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse range of clients. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team and support multiple clients across a variety of industries. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on multiple accounts simultaneously. Key Responsibilities Client Accounting & Bookkeeping Maintain accurate and organized financial records for multiple clients Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and monthly adjustments Financial Reporting Produce monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports) Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to clients Tax Support When Needed Support tax team with preparation of business and individual tax returns Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Conduct basic tax research and assist in identifying planning opportunities for clients Client Communication & Relationship Management Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned clients Respond to client inquiries regarding financial reports, tax documentation, and general accounting matters Build strong relationships through proactive communication and reliable service Compliance & Advisory Ensure adherence to GAAP and firm best practices Provide documentation and support during audits or tax examinations Stay current on accounting standards and regulatory changes affecting clients Team Collaboration Work closely with managers, senior accountants, and tax professionals Assist with onboarding and training of junior staff when applicable Participate in process improvement and internal initiatives to enhance client service Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a CPA or public accounting firm Strong proficiency with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar cloud-based accounting software Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Strong communication and interpersonal skills Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities efficiently Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary: $60,000-$65,000 DOE Bonus opportunities 401(k) plan with employer match Health, dental, and vision insurance Short-term disability and life insurance (AFLAC) Paid time off and holiday pay
