Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a direct hire opportunity in Chesapeake, VA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys detailed research, accurate reconciliations, and supporting a smooth month-end close process within a high-volume, fast-paced corporate environment. The Staff Accountant will support financial control activities, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and audit preparation. This is a strong opportunity for someone who values accuracy, organization, and teamwork, and who wants to contribute to a stable accounting function with supportive leadership and a collaborative work environment. This position offers a hybrid schedule with one remote day per week and the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams while building depth in corporate accounting and financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly financial statement reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper support.
  • Prepare and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain organized, well-documented workpapers to support reconciliations, reporting, and audit requests.
  • Research discrepancies and work cross-functionally to resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Support annual audit preparation by compiling schedules, documentation, and related financial information. Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on experience.

  • Schedule:
    Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Hybrid work arrangement: 1 remote day per week.
