Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the agency's Medicaid financial operations, including Medicaid budget entry, billing support, eligibility verification, and resolution of denied claims. This position also assists the Finance Department with reconciliations, reporting, and other accounting functions as assigned. This position is ideal for an individual with strong analytical and organizational skills who is interested in accounting, finance, and governmental operations. Essential Duties Enter and maintain Medicaid budgets and authorizations in agency systems. Enter and maintain case management billing and related financial data. Verify Medicaid eligibility and resolve eligibility-related issues. Research and assist with resolution of denied or rejected claims. Review financial and billing data for accuracy and completeness. Assist with account reconciliations and financial reporting. Support month-end, year-end, and audit-related activities. Maintain organized records and supporting documentation. Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Experience with Medicaid, healthcare billing, insurance claims, or government reimbursement programs preferred, although not required Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. High level of integrity and professionalism. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to learn financial software and databases. Ability to work independently Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
