Job Description

Staff Accountant needed in Miramar FL! This is a Monday to Friday 9am to5pm EST ! Job Description This Staff Accountant role focuses on supporting the month-end close process, preparing and posting journal entries, and performing detailed account reconciliations in a dynamic, data-intensive environment. The position requires a strong accounting foundation, comfort working with large and sometimes unstructured data sets, and the ability to provide accurate reporting that supports forecasting and leadership decision-making. You will collaborate closely with a supportive, team-oriented group and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes. Responsibilities Support the month-end close process, beginning with the June close, by completing assigned tasks accurately and on time. Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures. Perform account reconciliations for key accounts, including accrued liabilities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Handle a high volume of accounting data and manual entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness in complex, detail-heavy processes. Review and interpret accounting data received from ships and other less-structured sources, resolving discrepancies and applying sound judgment to non-standard inputs. Complete post-close reconciliations and follow up on any variances or issues to ensure the integrity of financial records. Generate reports used for forecasting and provide accurate, timely deliverables to leadership and other stakeholders. Use Excel tools such as VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables to analyze data, support reconciliations, and streamline reporting. Leverage ERP systems, preferably PeopleSoft, to process transactions, run reports, and maintain accurate general ledger records. Collaborate with team members to share information, resolve issues, and continuously improve accounting processes. Provide backup support across the accounting team as needed to ensure coverage and continuity of operations. Ramp up quickly on new systems, processes, and data sources, and operate independently once trained. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Miramar, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
