Hybrid based in Glenview, IL Position Overview The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role assists in the month-end and year-end close processes, prepares financial reports, and ensures compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and has foundational experience in a professional accounting environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries for daily and monthly transactions
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies in account balances
  • Support the monthly close process, including accruals and prepaid schedules
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide supporting documentation to auditors
  • Maintain supporting schedules for fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization
  • Ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with sales tax filings and other regulatory compliance requirements Requirements Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA candidate or intent to pursue CPA licensure preferred Experience
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience post college with a public and/or corporate organization Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, basic formulas)
  • Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or similar ERP
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams) Core Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, accruals)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
