Job Description

We are seeking a versatile, detail-oriented Staff Accountant & HR Specialist who can take full ownership of transactional accounting while also supporting day-to-day Human Resources activities. This role is ideal for someone who is highly motivated, organized, enjoys variety in their work, and thrives in environments where they can make a strong operational impact. You will handle full-cycle bookkeeping, including AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, monthly close support, and cash management while also assisting with employee onboarding, basic HR administration, payroll coordination, recordkeeping, and general employee support. Key Responsibilities Accounting Able to analyze and manipulate large amounts of Data Experience with large ERP systems Process journal entries for accruals, prepaids, adjustments, depreciation/amortization, etc. Accounts Payable (AP): understand the AP process and assist where needed. Accounts Receivable (AR): understand the AR process and assist when needed. Help maintain the General Ledger (GL) and ensure accurate and up-to-date accounting records. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules, responding to audit requests, and working with the Financial Controller.
Cash Management / Treasury-adjacent tasks:
Monitor daily / weekly cash balances Prepare cash balance reports Facilitate / document wire transfers, including review / submission / reporting.
Monthly Close:
Help prepare reconciliations: prepaids, accruals, deferred revenue, inventory Review and analyze variances, ensure adjusting entries are recorded Help prepare or support Balance Sheet reconciliations Work with accruals / deferrals / prepaid expense schedules. Provide ongoing support to the
Controller:
special projects, process improvements, policy adherence, documentation of accounting procedures. Maintain vendor relationships, ensure vendor data integrity Contribute to process improvements, documentation of internal controls, and ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP). Other ad-hoc financial tasks as needed (assisting with budgets, forecasting) Human Resources HR Administration Support onboarding/offboarding: offer letters, background checks, system setup, new-hire paperwork, terminations, offboarding procedures and file closure. Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS updates Respond to employee HR inquiries and route more complex matters to the Leadership Assist with benefits administration including enrollments, terminations, and employee questions Support performance review cycles, employee communications, employee recognition and policy implementation Help maintain employee handbook updates and HR documentation Recruitment Support Help post job openings, screen applicants, schedule interviews Coordinate communication with candidates throughout the interview process Payroll Coordination Prepare and maintain payroll-related data for processing (hours, changes, deductions, commissions) Assist with payroll audits and reconciliation of payroll-related accounts Communicate changes to the payroll provider and ensure accuracy Required Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance (or equivalent experience preferred) 3+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping / accounting experience (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, monthly close) Professional experience or exposure to HR and employee relations Strong working knowledge of accounting principles / GAAP Experience with accounting software (Epicor or large ERP systems a must) Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, SUMIFS formulas), Ability to manipulate large volumes of data Ability to prepare account reconciliations, support audit requests, and speak to variances Excellent organization, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines Ability to juggle dual responsibilities across accounting and HR Strong communication skills, able to liaise with vendors, internal stakeholders, and auditors Ability to work independently (especially if remote), but coordinate tightly with Controller Preferred Qualifications Experience with deferred revenue, accruals, inventory accounting Previous experience in supporting audits Prior experience in a combined Accounting/HR role Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance Experience using HRIS software Remote / hybrid work capability Familiarity with bank / cash management procedures, internal controls Working Conditions Full-time salaried role Occasional onsite meetings Remote work option considered
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
