Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Staff Accountant to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will assist with the daily accounting functions for the Company, coordination and execution of department projects, month end close reconciliation, analysis and reporting, assist with audits, and serves as a key resource for the financial team. Attention to detail, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of accounting principles are essential for success in this role. The right candidate must have excellent organizational skills and be able to communicate professionally with all levels of management, customers, suppliers, and staff. Additionally, they must maintain the highest professional and ethical standards. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other required or ad hoc financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Support the monthly general ledger close process, including account reconciliations, review of daily cash activity, and preparation and posting of journal entries. Perform monthly variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and review material variances with the Accounting Manager and CFO; investigate discrepancies by coordinating with relevant departments. Evaluate accounting systems and procedures; recommend and implement improvements to strengthen internal controls and increase efficiency. Maintain and update process documentation (SOPs). Provide accounting support to management by clarifying expense-related issues and ensuring proper treatment of transactions. Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during annual and interim audits. Perform ad hoc financial analyses as requested by the Accounting Manager or CFO. Assist in gathering information for tax filings to ensure timely compliance; prepare certain returns as assigned (e.g., U.S. and Canadian sales tax filings). Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and book/tax reporting. Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including transaction postings, adjustments research, invoice review, and payment processing. Collaborate with operations to resolve discrepancies and support account activity. Record recurring accruals and prepaid expenses; ensure proper cutoff and expense recognition. Record payroll-related journal entries, including payroll accruals and employer benefit contributions (e.g., 401(k)). Record and reconcile employee benefit expenses, including health insurance and vacation accruals. Assist with credit card transaction processing and reconciliations. Support annual compliance processes, including 1099 filings, business licenses, and annual reports. Maintain accurate vendor and customer master data within the accounting system. Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations and resolve outstanding items timely. Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements. Education and Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the consumer goods industry (retail and wholesale sector). Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. Microsoft Office suite, advanced Excel skills. Data analytics certificates/experience a plus. Extensive experience in reporting analysis Experience with enterprise level software required. Microsoft Business Central/MS GP experience a plus. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong work ethic and self-motivation. Entrepreneurial mindset and someone who thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment. Must be eligible to work in the United States with no further sponsorship needed. What we offer Annual Rate $70,000- $85,000 Hybrid work schedule
