Job Description
Tax Accountant Distinct Recruitment - 4.5 Addison, TX Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $100,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Life insurance Qualifications CPA Public accounting Corporate tax return preparation Accounting firm experience Enrolled Agent Full Job Description Tax Accountant Addison, Texas | North Dallas $80,000 to $100,000 The right move now could change the next few years of your career. You may already be doing everything expected of you. Putting in the hours. Meeting deadlines. Preparing good work. Building solid tax experience. But that does not always mean your role is actually helping you progress. Maybe the work has become repetitive. Maybe Partner access is limited. Maybe the more interesting assignments always seem to sit one level above you. Or maybe your development mostly comes through review notes, without anyone really explaining the thinking behind them. This Tax Accountant opportunity with an established independent CPA firm in Addison offers a different kind of environment. The firm is small enough for your work to be noticed and your development to matter, but established enough to offer a solid client base, experienced people around you, and room to keep progressing. You will work closely with senior professionals who are still involved in the daily work. That means being able to ask questions, understand why something needs changing, and gradually take on more responsibility as your judgement develops. What could be better about this move You will be known for more than your charge hours. You will have direct access to experienced professionals who can explain the work rather than simply mark it up. You will gain experience across both individual and business taxation. You will move into more complex assignments as your knowledge develops. You will work with long standing clients in a stable, relationship focused practice. And you will have room to grow without getting lost in unnecessary layers. The role You will prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and business entities, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S. As your experience develops, you will support more complex tax assignments and gain greater exposure to planning and advisory work. You will work directly with senior team members and firm leadership, build relationships with clients, and become a reliable point of contact over time. You may also support bookkeeping or payroll related client needs when required. The goal is for you to take increasing ownership of assignments from preparation through completion rather than staying in a narrow production role. Who could fit You will ideally have around five years or more of public accounting tax experience and experience preparing returns for both individuals and business entities. A CPA, EA, or progress toward either would be helpful, but it is not essential. More important is that you want to keep learning, are comfortable asking questions, and are ready to take greater responsibility for your work. This could be particularly relevant if you have built a good technical foundation but now need broader exposure and closer access to experienced people. Maybe you are in a larger firm where the decision makers feel too far away. Maybe you are in a smaller practice where the work has become repetitive. Or maybe you simply feel ready to be trusted with more. This role gives you the opportunity to keep developing without being expected to work everything out alone.
