Job Description

Veterinary Accountant VetPro Financial Services Fort Collins, CO Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $90,000 a year 8 hours ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Work from home Flexible schedule Paid sick time Qualifications Preparation of internal financial performance reports Financial data reconciliation English Bachelor's degree QuickBooks Accrual accounting Accounting Full Job Description VetPro Financial Services | Full-time | Remote, Colorado-based required The short version We're a small accounting firm that does one thing: Veterinary Bookkeeping. You'd be the accountant supporting a set of those practices, working directly with the owners and their practice managers rather than sitting three layers below a controller. We're hiring for a range of experience, from someone a few years into their accounting career to a senior accountant who can run a client portfolio with little oversight. The salary range above is wide on purpose. Where you land in it depends on what you bring, and we'll be upfront about that early in the process. About VetPro Financial We deliver operationally accurate books for independently owned veterinary practices. This means financials that tie back to what's happening at their practice, so owners can see how a change in scheduling, staffing, inventory and pricing shows up in their financials. This financial feedback on a monthly basis helps them make decisions to impact their future performance. We also take the work of managing all the inputs and the preparation of financials off the owner and their staff entirely. They didn't open a practice to chase down invoices or reconcile vendor statements, and we'd rather they spend that time running their practice and taking care of patients. What you'll do Roughly how the month breaks down: Monthly close and reconciliations (about 80%). Record transactions, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and keep clean general ledgers for your clients in QuickBooks Online. Reporting and client conversations (about 15%). Prepare monthly financial statements, then walk practice owners through what the numbers mean in plain English. If a client asks why their cost of goods jumped, you're the one who knows. Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow (about 5%). Help owners plan for hires, equipment, and growth. Senior candidates will lead this work; junior candidates will support it and grow into it. Year-end and tax support. Support year-end close and pull together what our tax preparers need. Making us better. We build a lot of our own tools, so if you have ideas on how we do this work better, we want them. Who does well here Someone who likes owning the full picture for a client instead of one slice of a big department. Someone who's comfortable being the person an owner calls with a candid questions on their financials, and who has the ability to explain the benefits of accrual accounting to a non-accountant. Someone organized enough to keep a dozen sets of books on a monthly cadence without anything slipping or being missed. What we're looking for Must have Solid general accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting skills, including hands-on accrual-based work Proficiency in QuickBooks (or a comparable platform) and comfortable in Excel Experience preparing accurate reconciliations and reading financial data critically Clear written and verbal communication with people who don't work in finance Level guide
