- Full-time Job Overview Dakota Granite is seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong background in cost accounting to join the team.
In this role, you will help ensure accurate financial reporting, inventory controls, and business analysis. This role supports general ledger and fixed asset accounting and partners closely with operations to evaluate costs and enhance financial data integrity. You must have strong analytical skills and a data driven mindset to identify and solve issues as they arise.
Responsibilities:
Perform cost accounting activities, including cost analysis and variance reporting Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities Assist with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close in accordance with GAAP Maintain and reconcile fixed assets Prepare and analyze financial reports to support management decision making Establish, maintain, and improve financial data and accounting processes Support inventory accounting, reconciliations and inventory controls Work cross functionally to improve processes and procedures for accurate and transparent accounting of inventory including work-in-process and finished goods/components Assist with the maintenance of accounting records for multiple entities Sales tax analysis and reporting Build ERP and excel data driven financial tools to increase efficiencies and effectiveness Incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and processes in line with company policy to streamline manual, routine tasks Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred. Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments with a focus on technical accounting practices. Extensive knowledge of GAAP standards along with experience in double entry bookkeeping and account reconciliation. Proficiency in various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or similar platforms. Strong understanding of payroll management systems including ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, and Paychex. Demonstrated ability to perform data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills) and analyze complex financial concepts. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and analysis tasks. Bachelor's degree in Accounting 3-5 years of accounting experience including cost accounting Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and financial reporting Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems, EPICOR is a plus Combination of public accounting and private industry manufacturing experience CPA or CMA preferred
