Job Summary:
Fogelman Properties ("Fogelman") is a fully integrated investment and property management company and one of the country's largest privately-owned multifamily firms. Founded in 1963, Fogelman currently owns and/or manages approximately 30,000 apartment homes located across the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest. The Property Accountant, based in the Memphis home office, will, under minimal supervision, apply cash, accrual and full GAAP accounting principles to prepare, analyze, maintain and deliver complete, accurate and timely monthly financial reports for a portfolio of multi-family properties. Works closely with property managers to complete monthly reporting package sent to the clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares financial statements and compiles monthly owner reporting packages to ensure timely and accurate delivery to the client and other stakeholders. Creates and posts journal entries to the general ledger ensuring that all revenue, expenses, receipts, owner's distributions, funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period have been accurately posted. Performs an in-depth review of general ledger and income statement. Communicates with property managers and Regional Vice Presidents to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time client and Company reporting. Communicates with property owners, asset managers, and other key stakeholders. Calculates and prepares distributions for clients. Submits quarterly reports and reserve draws to Lenders. Researches, resolves and responds to requests from management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports. Recognizes potential issues so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues. Coordinate with client and auditors on any auditor, tax advisor, or lender requests. Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring each applicable balance sheet account has appropriate support and is accurately stated. Performs other duties/projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. The ideal candidate will be energetic, self-motivated, deadline driven, extremely organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to professionally communicate with all levels of individuals within and outside the organization, while successfully managing multiple tasks. Positive team-player attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.
