Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated, entry-level Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at our family-owned real estate development company located in downtown Memphis, TN. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn, take on increasing responsibility, and grow within the organization over time. This full-time position offers a competitive salary, annual bonus eligibility, and a benefits package including health insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, paid holidays, and company-provided parking garage access. Responsibilities Review and reconcile monthly brokerage activity. Prepare general ledger account reconciliations. Record journal entries accurately and timely. Prepare and file sales and use tax reports. Reconcile and record insurance premium allocations across various entities. Serve as backup for accounts receivable. Assist in the budgeting process including the preparation of select overhead budgets. Review and analysis of select property operating budgets prepared by Asset Managers. Gather, organize, and review tax workpapers for outside CPA firms. Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes. Support internal reporting, documentation, and process improvement efforts. Complete other accounting, finance, and administrative projects as needed to support the department. Qualifications Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required. Currently pursuing a four-year degree, or equivalent relevant accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Comfortable learning and navigating accounting systems, reporting tools, and other business software. Basic understanding of general ledger activity, reconciliations, debits and credits, or willingness to learn. Traits for Success Meticulous and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy. Organized, with the ability to balance competing priorities and meet deadlines. Accountable, taking ownership of assigned tasks and following through to completion. A clear communicator, able to ask questions, provide updates, and work well with others. Comfortable with change, including learning new software, systems, processes and responsibilities
Pay:
$62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
