Job Description

Robert Half is recruiting for an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to support financial operations for a manufacturing environment for our client in Rockwood, Tennessee. This role focuses on delivering accurate product costing, analyzing performance drivers, and strengthening reporting processes that guide business decisions. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in standard costing, month-end activities, and cross-entity accounting within a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain standard cost models to ensure product and production costs are recorded accurately.
  • Review manufacturing performance and investigate cost variances, translating findings into clear financial insights for leadership.
  • Manage month-end close tasks related to inventory, cost accounting, and related journal entries with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Partner with operations and finance teams to evaluate cost trends, monitor spending, and support profitability improvements.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting activity, including transaction review, reconciliation, and elimination entries where required.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making.
  • Use QAD and Excel-based reporting tools to extract, validate, and analyze financial and cost data.
  • Help strengthen accounting controls, reporting consistency, and data accuracy across cost-related processes.
The position will require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a CPA is preferred and 3+ years of experience. The position is 100% onsite and will require someone to live in the local Knoxville or surrounding areas.
