JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Divisional Accounting close team and is responsible for executing a broad range of accounting activities supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for U.S. and international entities. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a public company environment. The Staff Accountant will prepare and review journal entries, perform complex balance sheet account reconciliations, support intercompany and international accounting activities, and assist with SOX compliance and audit support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Close Prepare, record, and review recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, reversals, and foreign currency-related entries. Support close activities for multiple entities, including domestic and international subsidiaries. Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations across cash, receivables, intercompany accounts, prepaids, accrued payroll, stock-based compensation, taxes, and other accounts. Monitor close calendars and ensure all responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. Intercompany, International, and FX Accounting Prepare and reconcile intercompany receivables, payables, and settlements across multiple legal entities and currencies. Record and reconcile foreign exchange and intercompany FX adjustment entries. Support international accounting activities including VAT, payroll-related accruals, and local statutory requirements. Account Reconciliations and Controls Maintain ownership of assigned account reconciliations, including preparation, documentation, and timely resolution of reconciling items. Ensure reconciliations comply with SOX and internal control standards. Participate in quarterly review of account reconciliation logs and follow-up on open items. Financial Reporting and Analysis Assist with internal financial reporting, including variance analysis and monthly GL review activities. Support consolidation activities and internal reporting schedules. SOX, Audit, and Compliance Support Assist with SOX control execution, documentation, and evidence retention. Support internal and external audit requests, including Big 4 audit and quarterly review procedures. Help ensure journal entries are recorded in the correct period and comply with accounting policies. Process Improvement and Systems Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and document accounting processes and internal controls. Support ERP-related activities, including Oracle-based journal entry processing and reports. Collaboration and Ad Hoc Support Partner with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, AP, and HR teams. Respond to ad hoc requests and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required). Experience 1-3 years of Corporate or Public Accounting experience. Experience supporting monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations. Exposure to intercompany and multi-entity accounting preferred. Skills & Competencies Advanced Excel proficiency. Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
