Arlington, TX Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Microsoft Excel Financial reporting GAAP Typing Productivity software Full Job Description Accountant I US Specialists Management Job Summary The Staff Accountant I is responsible for supporting the organization's financial operations through accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting budgeting and audit processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial data across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities to maintain accurate general ledger records. Support the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of manual journal entries. Perform account reconciliations to ensure transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies are identified and resolved timely. Monitor and analyze financial variances to identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential issues. Maintain detailed and organized documentation of accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial reports to support audit readiness and compliance. Assist with preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Support quarterly and annual external audit requests and related documentation needs. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial activity. Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and help resolve issues arising from day-to-day accounting operations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with process documentation initiatives. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO. Required Skills Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Understanding of accounting terminology, financial reporting concepts, and accounting tools. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with executives, board members, staff, and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial information. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting or related financial experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer, including participation in virtual meetings. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and data entry. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with frequent interruptions, changing priorities and deadlines. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. Occasional travel may be required as determined by the Chief Financial Officer. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
