Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Tax Accountant for their Tax Department. The right candidate will assist in the preparation of federal and state tax returns, ensuring tax compliance, preparing tax provisions, research, special projects and other tax matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Accumulate, analyze and process financial accounting data to prepare tax returns, tax return workpapers, estimated tax payments and tax provision workpapers Work with divisions and other departments to distribute and gather documentation for tax return filings Perform detail review of general ledger accounts Research and analyze tax laws, planning strategies and other tax issues Provide updates on tax legislative changes Assist with federal and state income tax audits including the preparation of responses to audit inquiries and notices Assist with various special projects and other administrative items Organize and maintain records of EFTP's Prepare other non-income tax filings Update job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities and reading professional publications Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Able to travel overnight Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; or two plus years of experience and/or related training Preferred Qualifications Master's degree; Big 4 CPA firm experience; CPA Certification or actively pursuing Strong verbal and written communications skills; work well under pressure to meet deadlines; ability to work independently, multi-task and provide attention to detail Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large volumes of data Come join a winning team with a Fortune 500 company!
