Director of Finance & Business Systems Position Overview B & E Resources, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to support the Company's financial operations, reporting processes, and project-based billing activities. This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end close, and assisting with billing functions to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will work closely with internal departments, including project management and operations, to ensure financial and billing data is complete, accurate, and aligned with contract terms and Company policies. This role operates in a fast-paced environment and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Close Process Prepares and posts journal entries to the general ledger with accuracy and timeliness Assists with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations Performs balance sheet reconciliations and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner Maintains supporting schedules and documentation for all assigned accounts Ensures financial data integrity and adherence to internal controls and company policies Billing Support & Project Accounting Supports billing operations for Lump Sum and Time & Materials (T&M) projects from setup through closeout Reviews project cost data and billing backup to ensure accuracy and alignment with contract terms Assists in the preparation, review, and validation of customer invoices prior to issuance Partners with Billing Specialists and Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate billing cycles Performs job audits to verify billing accuracy, cost allocation, and revenue recognition alignment Assists in resolving billing discrepancies, customer inquiries, and required adjustments Supports maintenance of contract documents, billing records, and supporting documentation for audit readiness Financial Reporting & Analysis Assists in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports Analyzes financial results, including project-level performance, and provides variance explanations Supports budgeting and forecasting processes as needed Assists in tracking and reporting project-related financial data, including cost and revenue trends Audit & Compliance Prepares audit schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits Ensures compliance with GAAP, contract requirements, and Company accounting policies Maintains organized and audit-ready financial and billing records Administrative & Team Support Collaborates with project managers, operations, and administrative teams to ensure accurate financial and billing reporting Provides general accounting support, including assistance with accounts payable and receivable as needed Supports process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and billing cycle timelines Performs other duties and special projects as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 3-5 years of accounting experience required Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting Experience supporting billing processes, preferably in a project-based or construction environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills Experience with Business Central or similar ERP systems preferred Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, in-office environment Work Environment This position is an in-office role based at the B & E Resources corporate office in SE Houston or Beaumont, Texas.
