About Dean Baldwin Painting Dean Baldwin Painting is a well-established aircraft painting company specializing in commercial aircraft exterior refinishing. Our Corporate Office supports the accounting, human resources, safety, IT, and administrative needs of our facilities nationwide. Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day and month-end accounting activities while maintaining accurate and timely financial records. This position will support the monthly close process, prepare account reconciliations and journal entries, maintain fixed asset and prepaid schedules, and assist with the preparation of balance sheet lead schedules. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in basic accounting principles, is highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with Excel and accounting systems. Key Responsibilities General Accounting & Month End Close Perform daily accounting activities and maintain accurate general ledger records. Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries. Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and proper account coding. Research and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts. Assist with maintaining the chart of accounts and accounting records. Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Review general ledger activity for completeness and accuracy. Meet established month-end closing deadlines. Bank Reconciliations Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for operating and payroll bank accounts. Investigate and resolve outstanding reconciling items. Ensure cash transactions are properly recorded in the general ledger. Identify unusual or potentially incorrect transactions and escalate as appropriate. Balance Sheet Reconciliations Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Maintain balance sheet lead schedules and ensure balances are supported by appropriate documentation. Research reconciling items and make necessary correcting entries. Assist with ensuring balance sheet accounts are properly stated at month-end. Fixed Assets Maintain the fixed asset subledger and supporting schedules. Record additions, disposals, transfers, and other fixed asset activity. Calculate and record monthly depreciation expense. Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger. Assist with periodic fixed asset counts and analysis. Prepaids and Accruals Maintain prepaid expense schedules and calculate monthly amortization. Prepare and post payroll accruals and other month-end accruals. Monitor accrual and prepaid balances for accuracy and completeness. Reconcile supporting schedules to the general ledger. Financial Reporting & Audit Support Assist with preparation of monthly management reports. Provide supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Assist with requests from management, auditors, and other departments. Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Experience 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and the debit/credit process.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger accounting.
  • Basic understanding of accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and journal entries.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas and organize financial data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

$24.00 - $27.00 per hour
