- $54,697.86 a year 20 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Overview The Finance Accountant position will be responsible for performing professional level accounting work involving the analysis and reporting of municipal finances, and other tasks related to the practice of recording, classifying, and researching financial transactions. Responsibilities
- Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), City Ordinances and applicable legal mandates
- Prepare and submit accounting journal entries and adjustments into the City's Infor Financial and Accounting System
- Analyze and review financial transactions submitted from City Departments for accuracy and appropriateness
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolve differences, such as bank statements, investments, and credit cards
- Ensure required accounting entries are completed before the closing of the month
- Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required
- Prepare the monthly bank reconciliations of approximately 20 bank accounts to include the Combined Bank, Airport PFC, Alarm Permits, Beach Fees, Benefits, CCCIC, Collections, Corpus Christi B Corp, Corpus Christi Bus & Job Development Corp, EMS, Home Project, Law Enforcement, Risk Management, Workers Compensation, Payroll, etc.
- Prepare monthly NSF reports from Central Cashiering and bank slips, vouchers payable and Risk check registers and void list and numerous Infor reports
- Prepare payroll and vouchers payable due to the zero balance accounts (ZBA) factor
- Reconcile cleared checks
- Run query daily and update Infor for cleared checks
- Reconcile Payroll checks
- Prepare the monthly reconciliation for the Infor outstanding check list to the bank
- Reconcile NSF cash amounts with the details provided by the system daily
- Download the NSF report daily for return items
- Work with the Finance Accountants to record any entries needed for the bank reconciliation
- Prepare the monthly credit card reconciliation and internet credit card transactions of approximately 40 merchant ID's
- Retrieve the credit cards cash balance and detail for the transactions from the credit card platform and Frost Bank Treasury Connect and reconcile the cash amounts with the transactions for each credit cards account daily
- Maintain and update the escheat account throughout the year
- Update the escheat accounts for vouchers payable, Home Project, CCCIC Collections, CCCIC, payroll, and risk which includes moving older checks into the accounts or removing them if checks have cleared the bank or have been voided
- Annually, send the Unclaimed Property Report for the City to the State of Texas Unclaimed Property Division
- Reconcile Infor stale-dated list monthly to the Escheat account records
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

- Bachelor's degree (BA /BS)

- Municipal government preferred Licenses and Certifications Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
