HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting for the plant operations. This position works closely with the Controller and cross-functional operational leaders to complete month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide reporting that supports departmental decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow their accounting skill set while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on capturing memories, inspiring students, and celebrating achievement.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Prepare and record monthly journal entries. Reconcile general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances. Run monthly departmental expense reports and provide supporting detail to managers and supervisors. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed. Operational Accounting Support Generate and distribute the weekly departmental labor tracker. Conduct the annual obsolete inventory review and assist with raw material price testing. Provide cash application support during high-volume peak seasons related to customer receipts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to perform complex journal entries that require independent problem solving and analysis data. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Public Accounting background preferred At least 1-2+ years of relevant Finance and/or Accounting experience preferred Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
