Primary Purpose:
To assist in the efficient coordination and performance of accounting procedures related to the School Nutrition Department. Responsible for monitoring financial operations, maintaining accurate accounting records, reviewing invoices and purchases for compliance and accuracy, tracking Buy American requirements, reconciling accounts monthly, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, business administration or related degree.
  • Certified or working towards TASN Level V or SNA certification.
Special Knowledge Skills:
  • Knowledge of school finance, budgets, accounting systems, and office management procedures.
  • Must attain a working knowledge of all state laws and regulations pertaining to the reporting of financial information to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to exercise judgment in decision-making.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Perform monthly budget, transaction, and account reconciliation analyses to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Enter requisitions, journal entries, etc. into district financial systems.
  • Oversee semi-monthly payrolls and KRONOS maintenance.
  • Review all School Nutrition invoices for accuracy, pricing, coding, Buy American compliance, and receiving documentation prior to processing for payment.
  • Track and maintain documentation for all Buy American purchases and ensure compliance with USDA procurement regulations.
  • Reconcile and review all School Nutrition accounts monthly to ensure financial accuracy, identify discrepancies, and notify leadership of concerns or trends.
  • Perform petty cash, P-Card, and change fund reconciliations to ensure accuracy, accountability, and compliance with district financial procedures.
  • Monitor account balances and expenditures to ensure proper allocation of School Nutrition funds and budget compliance.
  • Prepare invoices and maintain accounts receivable records for all amounts due to the School Nutrition Department.
  • Maintain all purchase and accounting files.
  • Request quotes and maintain purchasing records.
  • Audit campus operations to ensure adequate accounting for equipment inventories.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state accounting requirements, including meal pricing and fund balance levels.
  • Set up employees and vendors in MUNIS.
  • Assist warehouse staff with annual inventory counts and inventory reconciliation procedures.
  • Assist in year-end closing procedures as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
