External Affairs Position Overview Starting Salary Range is $72,758.40•$76,469. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience. The Foundation Accountant & Grant Compliance Coordinator serves in a dual-role capacity supporting both the Lee College Foundation and the College's Grants Management Office through financial oversight, grant compliance coordination, budget support, and fiscal reporting. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial stewardship of Foundation and grant-funded accounts while maintaining compliance with institutional policies, grantor requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The position collaborates with campus departments, grant-funded project teams, Foundation leadership, and external stakeholders to support accurate financial management, compliance, audit readiness, and operational effectiveness. The position provides guidance to grant managers and project directors regarding budget monitoring, allowable expenditures, financial processes, and compliance expectations while supporting the Foundation's accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and audit activities. This position contributes to the College's strategic priorities by strengthening financial accountability, enhancing operational efficiency, supporting external funding initiatives, and ensuring effective stewardship of institutional and donor resources. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Foundation Accounting & Financial Stewardship Maintain financial records and assist with accounting functions related to Foundation accounts, restricted funds, scholarships, donations, and special projects Reconcile Foundation accounts and transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation Assist with Foundation budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and fiscal analysis Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and supporting documentation for Foundation leadership, auditors, and stakeholders Coordinate with College business and finance offices regarding Foundation-related transactions, transfers, and reporting needs Support donor stewardship efforts through accurate financial tracking and reporting of restricted and designated funds Assist with financial monitoring and reporting related to fundraising activities, grants, endowments, and special initiatives Grant Management, Accounting, Budgeting & Compliance Monitor and maintain financial records for grant-funded programs and projects to ensure compliance with grantor requirements, institutional policies, and applicable regulations Assist grant managers and project directors with budget development, expenditure tracking, budget modifications, and fiscal planning Review grant expenditures for allowability, allocability, reasonableness, and compliance with grant guidelines and funding restrictions Prepare and submit financial reports, reimbursement requests, budget updates, and supporting documentation for grant-funded projects Coordinate with project directors and departmental staff to ensure timely and accurate financial processing and reporting Maintain grant financial files and documentation to support audits, monitoring reviews, and compliance reporting Assist with post-award grant administration activities, including account setup, budget reconciliation, financial monitoring, and closeout processes Support the development and implementation of grant-related financial procedures, internal controls, and compliance practices Monitor grant spending timelines and assist departments in maintaining compliance with grant performance periods and spending deadlines Serve as a resource to campus stakeholders regarding grant-related financial procedures, compliance expectations, and reporting requirements Conduct research and assist with grant proposal development, white papers, presentations, and supporting documentation. Utilize and maintain grant management systems and databases (e.g., Instrumental or other tracking systems) Audit, Reporting & Operational Support Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to grants and Foundation financial activities Ensure timely preparation and organization of documentation required for audits, tax preparation, financial reviews, and compliance monitoring Assist with development and maintenance of financial tracking systems, grant tracking systems, reporting tools, and operational processes Prepare financial summaries, budget analyses, and other reports for leadership, project directors, and stakeholders Support continuous improvement efforts related to financial operations, compliance practices, policy and procedure development, and reporting efficiency Maintain confidentiality of financial, donor, employee, and institutional information Perform other duties as assigned in support of Foundation Operations, the Grants Management Office, and institutional priorities Additional Duties & Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Bachelor's (or higher) degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field required Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, grants management, financial compliance, budgeting, or related financial operations Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reconciliation, reporting, and compliance practices Proficiency with financial systems, spreadsheets, database management & reporting tools Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting procedures Knowledge of grant compliance requirements, financial monitoring, and audit preparation Ability to interpret financial data and prepare clear, accurate reports Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Ability to provide guidance and support regarding financial and compliance processes Strong project coordination and organizational skills Ability to work independently while supporting collaborative team initiatives Commitment to accuracy, accountability, customer service, and operational excellence Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and financial integrity Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience managing or supporting grant-funded budgets and financial reporting Experience in higher education, nonprofit, governmental, or Foundation accounting Knowledge of federal, state, and local grant regulations and compliance requirements Experience supporting audits, donor fund management, or post-award grant administration Lee College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information or any other basis protected by law.
